5 Ways To Spend Your Weekend That Doesn’t Involve Cleaning

Some of you work Monday through Friday, and some of you don’t. Wherever your weekend lies, is a world of opportunity that can be better spent doing things other than cleaning. Hiring a service doesn’t mean you’re lazy, it just means that you value what free time you have. So here’s a short list of things you could be doing instead of scrubbing those toilets.

1. Go To An Exhibit

Is there a great museum or aquarium near you? If you have seen advertisements for an exhibit they have that sounds appealing to you, check it out! Or just check their websites to see what all they have going on, which is usually a lot.

2. Road Trip

Get out of town for a day or two! Even if it’s just a day trip, it is so refreshing to go somewhere new and far. And who knows what adventure could be waiting for you!

3. Spend The Afternoon In Bed

Sometimes doing nothing is the best thing. If you’ve been particularly busy, take some time to do nothing. And don’t feel guilty about it, everyone needs some time off from life in general once in a while.

4. Get With Friends You Haven’t Seen In A While

Is your social life obsolete from being so busy? Plan a day with your friends, or even take the time to catch up with someone you haven’t seen in a while.

5. Volunteer For Charity

Donating your time to a great cause is one of the best things you can do for others, as well as yourself. Helping others does wonders for your own mental health, and you are left with a sense of accomplishment in knowing that you have made a difference somewhere.

So what would you rather be doing than cleaning?

The Economics Behind Using a Maid Service

This is one of my favorite blogs, I wanted to share it again!  It really makes the case for hiring a maid service if you have a busy life or just prefer to spend your free time with your family or doing something you enjoy.

Opportunity cost is the value of the next-best choice available.  Opportunity costs are not restricted to monetary or financial costs: the real cost of output forgone, lost time, swag, pleasure or any other benefit that provides utility (a measure of satisfaction) should also be considered.

While opportunity cost is a term used in economics, it is also something I apply to my everyday life.   “If I do this, what am I giving up, what could I have done instead?”

It is easily applied to maid service.

It takes one person cleaning an average size house of 1800 sq/ft anywhere from 3-4 hours to clean it thoroughly top to bottom.  Or if you are like most people, that actually gets spread out over a week in 30 minute to 1 hour increments and your house never seems to get clean!

Ask yourself, what else could I have done with that time I spent cleaning.

  • Spent time with my family
  • helped my child with their homework
  • worked on that project I never have time to work on
  • had some “me” time just to relax
  • called a friend I have been needing to catch up with

The possibilities are endless.

While a financial budget must always be considered when making a decision about hiring a maid service, don’t forget to account for your time wasted cleaning!
